The 1st Birkirkara Scout Group was founded in November of the year 1916 under Mr. J. Galea SM, Mr. J. Calleja ASM, Mr. J. Booker ASM and Mr. L. Carbonaro. The Headquarter were at Main Street. On the 11 th of February 1917, the 1 st Birkirkara Scout Group took part in its first parade at the Palace Square in Valletta. In August of the same year, Lord Me thuen inspected the Scout Group in St. Helen’s Square, Birkirkara and in October the new colours of the group (blue and white) were blessed and presented during a Rally in Mosta. On the 8 th of July 1918, the 1st Birkirkara Scout Group moved its HQ to 192, Main Street.
In February of the year 1964, Chief Scout of the Commonwealth, Sir Charles Maclean, declared open the new HQ at 11, Main Street. However in the year 1981, the 1st Birkirkara Scout Group lost it HQ and became dormant for four years. In March 1985, the Group started to hold its meetings in a playing field at John Borg Street until a new premises in 29, Qrejzu Street were bought from the church in August of the same year. On the 24th of November 1991, the new HQ was inaugurated by the President of Malta Hon. Dr, Censu Tabone. In Summer 2001, the 1st Birkirkara Scout Group got a lease of 49 years for a campsite at Bahar ic-Caghaq. In November 2010, Chief Scout Kenneth De Martino inaugurated the new hall at the HQ, Sala George Sillato.
